biography
Once upon a time, there was a man and a woman. They fell in love, had a child, and they had a wonderful life. They were high in society, and thus all their friends and family were high in society as well. The man and woman loved their child with all their might, though there were times that they got busy, so they were unable to give the child their full attention. It did not matter though, as the child was loved and had attention from servants and other children of busy society parents as friends. The child was loved, and he knew he was loved. There was never any doubting that.
As the child grew up into a young boy, and then into a young man, he strove for perfection. Or, showing perfection. It was easy to put on that disarming smile, and charm someone to give him what he needed. And what he needed was power. What he needed was dedication and loyalty. His parents were true to him, treated him wonderfully, and he never wanted for nothing. Until, the day he did. It wasn't often that the young man was challenged, but when he was, he reacted poorly. It was a lesson to be learned, as was the lesson in hiding bodies and coming up with good alibis. But once he learned, he learned. He adapted. He got better at it.
The truth was, despite his fairy-tale upbringing, the young man was a monster. A beautiful charming disarming monster. But, weren't most people in high society exactly that? Purely perfection psychopathic in every way.
As the young man grew older, he took up certain hobbies. Archery. Shooting. Piloting. Deception. All the typical hobbies one of his status typically had. Only, he didn't throw around his status as a means to make those bow to him. No, he had done that when he was a young foolish man, and it had ended poorly. He learned. He adapted. He studied and knew how to mold the situation to his liking. Eventually, when his caring and loving parents died of old age, and left him their empire, he went off the grid. Rich beyond his dreams, he disappeared, just like that. Many thought he had died, and mourned the loss.
Instead, he had reinvented himself. Gone through extensive cybernetic enhancements, and decided to live a new life. The first of many new lives. So he went where most people went when they wanted something new and exciting. He went to Terminus. A bustling hub of excitement and new opportunities, it was easy for him to just live there and watch. It didn't take long for him to observe and take note of a small criminal kingpin of Terminus. The man wasn't exactly discrete, and it was almost too easy for our Hero to not only figure out who the cocky man was, but to infiltrate his units. Once he got the man's attention, our Hero offered his help. It had been intriguing, and at first the Criminal Kingpin of Terminus laughed. Until, he wasn't laughing anymore as our Hero described the ways he had crippled the status quo, and found security issues. Loyalty was easily brought from his gang, didn't he want to weed that out? Didn't he want to make things easier on himself, to find those who were actually loyal? The laughter stopped. Then, a new opportunity came up. And the second of new lives. A job for the Terminus kingpin, and our Hero accepted.
Becoming a professional hitman and head of security meant adapting once more. Observing, taking out the targets his boss wanted, and moving on. From a young boy who had a wonderful upbringing to the life he was living now, well he had to admit that his life was a lot better. He didn't do the jobs for money. He didn't need to. His original upbringing meant he was set for life. The jobs he has run before meant he was set for life. So, he did it for the thrill. He did it for the power it brought him. Did our Hero, all heroic and true, want to overthrow the man in charge? Yes. Yes, he fucking did.
And he did exactly that. It took time, but soon, the man was lying dead at his feet, literally. The current kingpin of terminus is dead, long live the new one. Which, of course, brought our Hero to his current new life. It was easy to adapt once more and change who he was, because only one person had ever seen his face and that person was now dead. Anyone else within the organization who had, was disposed of. Those who had run, well he'd catch up to them eventually. He wasn't one who liked to have loose ends around.
And thus, the latest identity. He could easily run the "start up" empire he had stolen, he hadn't been on terminus for long, so it was easy for him to start fresh. Since the previous person was never seen by others, it was almost too easy. As with all the other identities, a new backstory was created. A new life was formed and built. Papers, everything was in order. Now, it was just a matter to find the holes in all current operations and fix them. Terminus was small, but the reach could be large if he organized them all better.
He opened up a book store as a front, and started to connect with those who knew the current Terminus underworld. It was going to take a while to get everyone under his wing, but after 5 years, things are far more organized that they were before and people are even making money. Some are allowed to know who he "really" is (as his current identity) and what he does. Others just think of him as a book store owner. And no one knows all the past lives his lived. It's better this way. But one thing is for certain: this current life is the most profitable, and the most fun.
